General Information on Singapore

 

Geographical Position, Population and Climate

Singapore is an sunny island state with 63 surrounding islets, with a multi-racial mixed population of nearly 4.4 millions, predominately Chinese( about 75%) , followed by Malays( about 15%), Indian( about 8%) and other races(2%).

 

The main island has a total land area of 682 square km( at last count) and still growing in size owing to on going land reclaimation. It is one of the few island state in the world that grows in size, instead of shrinking.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Geographically located near to the equator and out of the earthquake belt,

between Malaysia and Indonesia. Singapore's strategic position has helped its airport and seaport grow into a major traffic exchange, snagging top ranking for its Changi International Airport and Busiest Port of the World for the Port of Singapore. These testimonials also fuel its international trade. It is one of the Asian gateways for Europeans and American countries.

 

Climate

Singapore has a tropical climate that is warm and humid all year round,

with temperature variations of between 24 to 32 degrees Celcius.

It is hottest during the months of June to August and the wet season is in November to December with a higher amount of rainfall.

 

But it is a ideal place for those who enjoy the glorious sunshine and out door activities. Watersports like water-skiing, wakeboarding currently hoard the top spots for outdoor sporting activities.
